Folegandros: Where Everyone Becomes One | Gogo & George
Coming from Paros myself, the Cyclades have always been in my blood. Yet, Folegandros holds a completely unique, almost sacred place in my heart—it might just be my absolute favorite destination. There is a raw, untouched beauty here that you won’t find anywhere else.
Gogo and George traveled all the way from England, bringing their closest family and friends to experience an incredible two-day celebration defined by the island’s two most iconic features.
First, the legendary squares of the Chora. During a wedding here, the main square doesn't just host the guests—it blends them with the island’s travelers. Everyone becomes one giant, celebrating family, dancing and laughing together in a beautiful, spontaneous feast.
Second, the breathtaking Church of Panagia, perched high above on the cliffside, offering a sunset that rivals any other in the world. Yes, the winding stone path up to the church is always a challenging climb—especially with camera gear!—but every single step is rewarded with views that remain etched in your memory forever. It is also one of the rare times I have filmed a religious ceremony inside this church, and the atmosphere was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
From the very beginning of the day, you could feel the electricity in the air. Gogo and George got ready surrounded by their friends, radiating incredible, high-energy vibes. When the traditional musicians arrived to escort them to the foot of the mountain path, everyone knew this was going to be a wedding for the history books.
The magic culminated in an unforgettable reception party. With Menelaos behind the decks, the dance floor was packed from the very first beat—he gave the guests absolutely no choice but to stay on their feet and dance the night away.
Folegandros, Gogo, and George... thank you for a weekend that will stay with me forever.
